John H. Powell

John was a beloved husband, father, pastor, and friend whose life reflected the love and sacrifice of Jesus. A graduate of Southern Seminary and Southwest Baptist University, John planted and pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church in New Caney, TX, where he faithfully shepherded God’s people. More than anything, he treasured his wife, Katherine, and their four children—Gunner, Bennett, Ada Kate, and Reese.On July 18, 2020, at the age of 38, John was welcomed into the arms of Jesus after giving his life to save others. He died as he lived—serving sacrificially. His legacy lives on through the church he planted, the people he discipled, and the family he loved so deeply.
